Ocean Country Society of Model Railroaders

We are a dual gauge model railroad club with membership interested in HO scale and O gauge model railroading. We have permanent HO and O layouts, and portable layouts for setup at shows.  You will find us at the club Tuesday nights.  These days, the HO scalers are busy wiring their layout.  O gaugers are running trains.  So whether you're into scale or just the fun of the run, you will find it here.

LOCATION: OCSMR is located in the basement of the All Saints Episcopal Church rectory building between 2nd and 3rd Streets on the Northbound side of Route 9 in Lakewood, New Jersey.

MEETINGS: Business meetings are held on the second Tuesday of the month. Other times members meet on every Tuesday and Friday arriving around 7:30pm.

LAYOUTS:

HO: Occupies about 700 square feet. Original layout consisted of member owned modules. This was recently taken apart and a permanent layout is under construction. The new layout is U-shaped and have two mainlines. Construction is L-girder.

Current plans are to run CSX and CNJ.  Scenery work and wiring are well underway, and it is planned to be fully operational by the end of October. The HO layout is strictly scale.

O: Occupies about 700 square feet. Original layout was a dogbone shape along the length of the basement with two mainlines. Another leg is being added opposite most of the original layout to make it U-shaped. It will have three mainlines with an engine facility at the end of the new leg featuring a 32 inch turntable. Construction is box frame.  Scenery work is underway, and all will be finished by the end of October.

The O layout is for the fun of running trains.  O gaugers range from strict scale to pure tinplate, with everything in between.

Travelling Layouts

We have both HO and O modular layouts for fairs and shows.  The HO layout is square, and features the four types of landscape found in New Jersey: rural, seaside, suburban and city.  The O layout is rhoimboidal, and features a variety of accessories.

Club trains: the club itself owns a small assortment of O and HO trains, donated by members.  The vast majority of trains run on the layouts belong to members.
